Bio

A Certified Recreational Sports Specialist (CRSS), Kurt is originally from Ashland, Ohio and a graduate of the University of Toledo and the NIRSA School of Recreational Sports Management. He is a member of the Registry of Collegiate Recreational Sports Professionals (RCRSP) and currently works in University Recreation & Wellness at the University of Maryland. Kurt is a Life Member of NIRSA.

Since joining NIRSA in1996 Kurt has served the Association in a variety of capacities. His contributions include serving on the Board of Directors as the Region One Vice President, Chair of the NIRSA Championship Series, and Chair of the NIRSA Sports Officials Development Program. He has also been active with civic and charitable organizations having served on the Board of Trustees for the Ohio 4-H Foundation, the Board of Directors for the NIRSA Foundation and the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials (DC Brd12).

Kurt has presented at National, Regional and State conferences on such topics as: Student Development, Risk Management, Flag Football Officials Training, and Employee/Staff Development. He has been a Clinician for several NIRSA Flag Football Official’s Pre Conference Workshops and for the US Army-Europe Sports Flag Football Officials Clinic throughout Germany and Italy. Kurt currently serves as the Rules Editor for the NIRSA Flag Football Rulebook and Officials' Manual.

A strong supporter of the NIRSA Championship Series, Kurt was the first director of officials at the NCCS National Flag Football Championships in 2001; and has served on the officials staff at the NIRSA National Flag Football Championships since 2004.
