The college experience is wholly unique to each individual student, yet there are integral events and occurrences all college students have that influence how they feel about their time involved in higher education. Social venues such as recreation, activities, and sports, should be safe and positive environments for students to have the full college experience as participants in the campus community. To create a positive, enjoyable atmosphere where students can be successful, it is important to understand the need for inclusive and welcoming spaces, where students can have their needs met as they pursue higher education. My professional and personal experience contributes to my ability to ensure such spaces exist for students of various backgrounds and contexts.
